1.Why use Interchangeable cores?

1)What does the Interchangeable core mean?

Using a special control key unlocks and allows removal from the front of the lock of the core. The purpose of using Interchangeable cores can be convenience to swap in and out in a few seconds, not to be used with tools that require special locksmith skills. The most important is, it only need to remove the interchangeable core not whole the lock when required.

2)How to use Interchangeable cores?

Using Luter’s control key to retract the retaining tab of the core, then put the core in place of the cylinder housing. Thrown out the retaining tab to insert the core, the core will be held secure inside the housing while the key is removed.

Conversely, to remove the existing core, use the control key turns to degree clockwise to retract the retaining tab. The core will be removed out, while the housing remains in place in the door.

Luter’s control key is identified by having "CK" stamped on the bow.

2.What is the difference between Luter SFIC and LFIC cores?

1)How do we choose Luter’s SFIC or LFIC cores?

Luter supply Small and Large Format Interchangeable Cores (SFIC & LFIC).

Both are recognizable by their figure “8” shape, but the size of SFIC cores is smaller than LFIC cores.

Large Format Interchangeable Core Cylinders (LFIC)

Keyway: Schlage Keyway.

The retaining tab of the core is a holding pin.

LFIC is widely used in different locks like KIK cylinder and Rim cylinder.

Small Format Interchangeable Core Cylinders (SFIC)

Keyway: Common use Best Keyway.

The retaining tab of the core is a holding bar.

SFIC has broad applicability in the project and grand master key system.

The 7-pins cores allow from 500,000 to 1000,000 distinct keys per keyway (KD).
