Introduction: The theme of the WDC Taipei 2016 is “Adaptive City—Design in Motion”. The term “adaptive city” means supporting innovation to promote the well-being of residents, despite limited resources. The adaptive city is a forward-looking city with “design vision”. The innovative power of design is the core engine that drives the adaptive city.
This session will discuss how design can be used to drive urban innovation and create an attractive and desirable city with “design vision”.

The Development Trend of Green Transportation
Introduction: In the traditional process of urban development, economic growth sees the use of more and more cars and motorcycles, leading to traffic congestion. This trend increases both air pollution and traffic congestion. The solution is to change from car-oriented thinking to a people-oriented policy of sustainable urban development.
This session will discuss government policies, mass rapid transit development, the enhancement of cycling environment and other issues which might help the promotion of green transportation in Asia-Pacific cities.

How to Construct a Zero Waste, Recycling Society
Introduction: Rapid economic development is always followed by environmental problems caused by an increasing amount of waste. But in fact, waste should be regarded as a “misplaced resource”. Building a sound recycling system has become an essential concern for many cities around the world, as recycling is also a new approach to achieving the ultimate goal of the sustainable city. To achieve this goal, we will continue to search for new approaches.
